United Way Day of Caring
Each year Haywood County volunteers provide “above and beyond” assistance for the Annual Day of Caring activities. Working together on numerous projects, they repair, construct, clean, paint and clear dense growth for many of our neighbors, friends and families who are unable to do the work themselves. United Way, with the help of volunteers, plans and organizes the activities each year for the day. A challenging process takes place in matching volunteer skills with project tasks.
In August 2007, 410 volunteers completed 33 projects. These projects helped to make citizen’s homes safer, more useful and hopefully more pleasant. We are grateful for the unselfish giving of time, materials and labor by the citizens and businesses of our community in order to touch so many lives.
